SAVE US A COCKTAIL IN HEAVEN, DAD! DICK NOBLE, THE INSPIRATION FOR CHATHAM IVY.

Richard B. Noble
March 30, 1935-September 24, 2014
To his family, Richard Noble was the warm bay in
the sunlight, shimmering, soothing,
welcoming, ever present and simply
beautiful. To his friends, he was the
sound of wind chimes from the deck
of a cottage, twinkling, bright, engaging
and sunny. To his colleagues, he
was the lighthouse in the fog, a bright
beacon of hope, encouragement and
integrity. Dick Noble was a wonderful
man who inspired others to be better
people through his own unwavering
loyalty, kindness, bravery and honesty. He was a compassionate
man who loved helping others and was totally
dedicated to his family.
Dick grew up in Milford, Connecticut where he learned
to love sailing and the New England coast. He was a
graduate of Fairfield Prep and Trinity College, where he
was the captain of the football team. After college, he
went on to become an officer in the Air Force and worked
as an executive in the home building industry. In his later
years, Dick volunteered with the Katrina relief efforts,
rebuilding homes in Mississippi and Alabama and at the
historic Crosby mansion in Brewster. Dick spent his
summers at his beloved home in Chatham and winters in
Back Bay, Boston.
He is survived by his wife, Laurie Carter Noble, two
daughters Kim and Katharine Noble and his granddaughter
Elizabeth Noble Phillips. A celebration of his life will
take place at First Parish Belmont Unitarian Universalist,
November 22 at 2:00 p.m. Memorial gifts may be made
to the Music Fund at First Parish. On line guest book at

Just reading through what you've written about him, he sounds so wonderful - and fun! They way in which you conduct your business is a beautiful way to honor him. Big hugs from Texas! Yes, you have a fan all the way down south. Keep up the good work.
